Concept & design - Buket Mihrinnisa Uygur
An immersive, large-scale concert experience designed to embody unity through collective performance, featuring choirs and a woodwind orchestra at Carnegie Hall.
Role
Concept Designer, developed the creative concept and visual direction for a multidisciplinary live performance integrating music, projection, lighting, and movement.
What I Did
- Created the overarching concept framing the concert as a microcosm of society, where individual voices form a unified whole
- Translated abstract themes of unity and connection into a tangible, emotionally driven live experience
- Collaborated with organizers and creative partners to align music, projection, lighting, and staging into a cohesive narrative
Impact
- Helped move the event beyond symbolic messaging into an embodied, shared experience of connection
- Supported a world premiere performance that blended multiple disciplines into a single storytelling arc
- Reinforced National Concerts’ mission of creating meaningful, transformative performance experiences
My design conveyed the essence of the “Reflections on Unity” concert by visually representing growth, connection, and harmony themes. The integration of elements of nature and human action served as a powerful and evocative symbol of the concert’s message. With its roots, transforming branches, and perched birds, I think the tree served as a poignant reminder of the rugged beauty we can achieve when we come together, respecting and cultivating each other’s unique contributions to creating something greater than ourselves.
